Twenty-three drawings will be on display as part of the teaching materials for the unprecedented Environmental Education, Sustainability and Climate curriculum offered by the Pará State Department of Education (Seduc). The artworks were chosen in the Seduc “Colors of the Future” contest in 2023 and 2024. Visitors will be able to see drawings inspired by themes such as environmental education, life projects, sustainability and climate. In addition, they will be able to hear from their creators what inspired their artistic creation in an activation with testimonials from each of the artists from the state network.
In addition to the exhibition, the drawings will be used in the visual identity and in materials for event participants, such as bags and notebooks. “We were delighted with the talent of these children and teenagers. They managed to convey through art the importance of the Amazon for humanity and that the future of the region depends directly on our actions,” said the CEO of the Brazilian Mining Institute (IBRAM), Raul Jungmann.
About the Contest
In an unprecedented initiative in the state of Pará, Seduc has been holding a drawing contest since 2023, aimed at students illustrating Seduc's graphic projects, such as the textbooks for the Environmental Education, Sustainability and Climate curricular component, Prepara Pará, in addition to the materials for the Alfabetiza Pará Program. Since then, three editions have been held, the “Prepara COP30” contest and two editions of “Cores do Futuro”, with 31 drawings selected in 2023 and 37 in 2024. The initiative marks the return of Seduc's own and regionalized teaching materials, in addition to enhancing the talents, learning and youth protagonism of Pará students.
“Having regionalized teaching materials is essential for the pedagogical development of our students, because it is through examples related to local culture, vegetation, cuisine, and the customs of the people themselves that our students can learn the content presented more easily. Having them participate in the creation of the covers enhances the materials, generating greater identification with the material, in addition to stimulating the talent of our children and young people. Participating in the International Conference on the Amazon and New Economies is another way to enhance the dedication and results of each of them,” noted the Secretary of State for Education of Pará, Rossieli Soares.
